Finally another post...

Hey, sorry I haven't posted in a while. College finally caught up to me. Trust me, you haven't missed much.

Since last posting, I searched through 3 nickels, 5 dimes, and 11 quarters.

One of the quarters is a new date: Mount Hood-D. There were also two upgrades: Delaware-D, Georgia-D.

That's about it. Oh, that and I randomly found a 1957-D wheat cent in the hallway last Saturday.
Yups....

Dime batch!

Since last writing, I looked through 1 nickel, 1,034 dimes, and 10 quarters.

In the dimes were 13 new dates: 1966, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1976-D, 1979, 1984-D, 1988-D, 1997-D, 2003-P, 2003-D, 2009-P, 2011-D. There was also an upgrade for my 1976 specimen. In addition to this were two Canadians: 1973 and 2001-P Volunteers.

I needed one of the quarters: Gettysburg-D. This is the first 2011 quarter I've found of any design. I like it! There were also two upgrades: Vermont-D and Virginia-P. There seem to be lots of new-looking older quarters around here...

Larger Search

Today's search consisted 100 cents, 87 nickels, 38 dimes, 42 quarters, 2 halves, and 14 small dollars.

In the pennies were 27 coppers, 1 Canadian (1967), and one wheat (1941-D).

The nickels contained two pre-1960 dates (1956-D, 1957-D) and 1 Canadian (1977).

The dimes had four dates: 1970, 1985-P, 1992-P, 2008-D. There was also 1 Canadian (2006-R).

In the quarters were six new dates: (1982-P, 1986-D, California-D, Nevada-P, New Mexico-D, Alaska-D) and three upgrades: (1996-P, Illinois-D, Arkansas-P).

One of the halves was one I needed: 1980-P.

Five of the small dollars were dates I needed: 1979-P Near Rim, 2001-P, James Monroe-D, Abraham Lincoln-P, and Franklin Pierce-D.

Larger search..

Today, I looked through 8 nickels, 37 dimes, and 49 quarters.

There were 10 new dime dates: 1965, 1970-D, 1972-D, 1974-D, 1975-D, 1985-D, 1989-D, 1991-P, 1998-D, and 2004-D. There was also an upgrade for my 2002-D example. Why no grades? Because I was lazy and the grades don't really matter on these coins.

In the quarters were 9 new dates: 1970-D, 1973, 1987-P, 1990-P, 1992-D, Delaware-D, Tennessee-P, Indiana-D, and Missouri-P. There was an upgrade in this batch, too: Alabama-D.

First Silver Dollar!

First of all, I searched through 2 nickels, 1 dime, and 5 quarters.

There was one new dime date: 1987-D, AU-58.

There were also two new quarter dates: Virginia-D, EF-40; Yellowstone-P, EF-45; and an upgrade: North Carolina-P, EF-45.

Also, in the mail today, I received my first Silver Dollar: 1884, VF-20. I tried to determine its VAM, but I think it has normal dies.

I will try to get pictures up tomorrow!

I needed two of the quarters: 1975, G-6; 2001-D, EF-40.

There was also one new quarter date: Illinois-P, EF-45.

Today's measly search...

Today's search consisted of all of 1 penny, 1 nickel, 2 dimes, and 3 quarters.

One of the dimes was one I needed: 1986-P, EF-40.

I also needed one of the quarters: 1980-P, VF-30.

The only reason I'm grading these premiumless coins is to get more experience in grading. I never was very good at it, and...that's just not a good thing for a coin collector.

Old Style

Hello, again..

Today, I searched through 1 nickel, 5 dimes, and 7 quarters.

Found two new quarter dates: 1971-D, F-12; 1981-D, F-15.
And one dime upgrade: 2001-P, EF-40.

However, I happened to see an old-style Five dollar bill in the cash tray at the main desk. I bought it out. It's a series 1988A L-A in Fine condition. It's a little worse for wear, with graffiti and a slight tear, but it's better than nothing.

First Posted Coin Search.. Okay, it's just pocket change

Hi again..

Just went through a nickel, 2 dimes, and 5 quarters.

Out of these coins, I got a 1979 dime that I needed for my collection. It looks to be in about F-12 condition, not that it matters that much.

Also, I picked up two 1956-D wheat cents from the Take-a-Penny tray in the store. They both grade about F-12, and are not needed for my collection.

First Post!

Hello!

This is my first post here. I've been thinking about creating a blog for a while now.

I suppose the main purpose of this blog is to post random info, facts, and finds about my coin collection!

Hopefully I'll have more time to post later.. College is quite stressful.
And just to prove that I can upload a pic.:
Yeah, really random, but it works!

Edit:
The way I most commonly add pieces to my collection is through normal circulation. However, I am getting more into purchasing older coins.

If you have any questions about coins, I recommend the website www.coincommunity.com, especially the forums, where many friendly people will be happy to help you.. Just be prepared to post pictures of the coin you are asking about ;) .
